Lund is simultaneously a very old and a very young city. The cathedral was built in the 900's and the university was founded in 1666. Today, about 1/3 of Lund's population consists of students, there is a large international community and about 90 % of everyone who lives here owns a bike.
Although Lund is a small town, it is home to an unusually large number of writers and many active NGO:s. Within the literary network you will also find 13 public libraries, where now nation-wide concepts such as after hours service and pre-school libraries were pioneered. Not to mention some of Sweden's largest publishing houses, a smorgasbord of large and small booksellers, student organisations, residencies and recurring literary festivals.
Lund is the city of ideas, and new ones are always welcome!
